My Approach
I believe that the relationship between a therapist and client is imperative to the process. Collaboration is key! Together, we will clarify your concerns, identify goals, and develop a plan to help you on the way to health, connection, and happiness. My warm, compassionate, and empowering approach supports my clients. I will offer you feedback, hold you accountable, and celebrate your successes with you every step of the way!
Learning how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors are connected and how you have power over them leads to insight and change. The messages we receive about ourselves, others, and relationships taught by our families shape us as adults. Further exploring the impact of these messages, recognizing the patterns of interacting with others, and processing significant experiences can help us heal and lead to a more authentic and fulfilling life. Building a “toolbox” may also be important, so creative strategies, such as mindfulness and movement, may be incorporated into our work.
While the cornerstone of my work is Object Relations therapy, I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Sex Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and S.A.F.E (Somatic and Attachment-Focused EMDR) through an Emdria-approved program. I tailor my approach in collaboration to best meet your needs and intentions for our work together.
My Career
I began my career in Philadelphia, PA. Attending Hahnemann University (currently Drexel University), where I earned my Master’s Degree in Dance/Movement Therapy. At that time, I worked primarily with children and families. A few years later, I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy from Chestnut Hill College. During my doctoral training, I expanded my experience to include working with adults and couples. I have specifically focused my post-graduate experience and training on my areas of expertise to bring my clients the most up-to-date and effective treatments and interventions.
I have worked in multiple settings, from outpatient clinics and practices to residential facilities, working my way up from therapist to supervisor to program director. Throughout my career, I have helped children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples with various concerns. In 2015, I opened my private practice in Blue Bell, PA. After relocating to Connecticut, I founded Better Being Connecticut in 2018, which grew into Better Being Psychology Group in 2023.
Currently, I work with individuals and couples experiencing relationship and intimacy issues along with sexual disorders, such as pelvic pain, erectile dysfunction, low desire, vaginismus, arousal disorders, and orgasmic disorders. Additionally, I treat children, adolescents, and adults who are experiencing concerns related to trauma, ADHD, anxiety, grief and loss, life phase transitions, stress, and burnout. I have experience working with physicians / medical professionals, executives/business owners, psychologists, other mental health professionals, educators, first responders, military/military families, those in public service, engineers, scientists, and athletes.
I am a licensed psychologist in Pennsylvania and Connecticut and am authorized to practice telepsychology in many states throughout the US. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the Pennsylvania Psychological Association, the Connecticut Psychological Association, the American Academy of Sexuality Educations, Counselors and Therapists, the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and the EMDR International Association.
